Welcome to Chievos! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Chievos web application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Chievos, you confirm that you:

  • Are at least 13 years of age
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
  • Will comply with all applicable laws and regulations

2. Description of Service

Chievos is a personal achievement tracking platform that allows you to:

  • Create and track personal achievements ("Chievos")
  • Upload photos and media to document your accomplishments
  • Earn badges based on your achievement milestones
  • Organize and categorize your achievements
  • Track your personal progress over time

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You may register using:

  • Google OAuth authentication
  • Other authentication methods we may provide

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access

By uploading content to Chievos, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

  • Store and process your content to provide the Service
  • Display your content within your personal account
  • Create backups for service reliability

We will NOT:

  • Share your private achievements publicly without your permission
  • Use your content for marketing or advertising purposes
  • Sell or license your content to third parties

4.3 Content Restrictions

You agree NOT to upload content that:

  • Violates any laws or regulations
  • Infringes on intellectual property rights
  • Contains malware or harmful code
  • Is hateful, threatening, or harassing
  • Contains explicit or inappropriate material

4.4 Content Removal

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

5. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Chievos only for lawful purposes. You will NOT:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service

  • Reverse engineer or decompile the application

  • Cloud storage for media files

9. Service Availability

9.1 No Warranty

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind.

9.2 Service Changes

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue features
  • Update the application
  • Perform maintenance that may temporarily interrupt service

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months

  • We are not liable for data loss due to technical failures or account termination
  • We recommend regularly exporting or backing up your achievements
